Frequently Asked Questions

Locating Your Profile

Why does Delver ask me to register before I’ve even used the service?

Delver does not ask you to register; it simply asks you to locate your public social network profiles. By doing so, Delver is able to automatically build your social graph and return results that were created by people in your network.

Registration

I already located my profiles, why should I register?

Registration allows you to save your search network, search buddies and kept items. You will also be able to search through your network from any computer and your friends will be able to find your profile.

Privacy

How does Delver find profiles and connections?

Basically Delver works like all other search engines. It crawls the web and indexes publically available content. Hence, Delver is only able to retrieve publically available information about yourself and your online connections. Delver takes your privacy very seriously and you can view our privacy statement.

Delver Results

How do Delver results differ from other search engines?

Delver focuses on UGC (User Generated Content) and content that users have referred to and found interesting. We match such content with your social graph and return results that reflect your friends’ views, opinions and recommendations.

Why am I getting results from people that are not in my network?

Delver tries to return results that best match your query. If people in your network have created content that matches your query then it will appear higher in the results. Sometimes results that are not in your network are better matches to your query than those created by your network.

Edit Profile Page

How can I edit my profile page? Can I change my profile picture?

At the moment this is not possible but we are working on enabling you to do so in the future.

Adding Other Social Networks

Can I add my profiles from other social networks that are currently not shown?

We are working hard to include as much info as we can and plan on adding many more social sources to our index in the future.

Can I add my blog to my profile?

We currently support the Blogger platform. If all goes well, we'll add support for the other platforms in October 2008.

Log Out

How can I log out of Delver?

If you identified yourself, but never registered, all you have to do is go to the network page and clear your network (click the “Clear your network” link, on the bottom right of the page). If you are registered to Delver, simply click the log out link.

Endless Scroll

Why aren't the search results paginated? How do I remember what results I liked?

Paging is so 1990’s, at Delver we believe that you don’t need to browse through pages, you simply scroll through dozens of results. If you see results that you’d like to get back to, simply press the Keep it link and continue to scroll down for more results.

Keep It Section

The keep it section is confusing to me, can I remove it?

The keep it section is here to help you keep track of results that you liked. Should you decide that you don’t want to see this on your screen, you can simply click on the link “Hide results I kept”.
